Reflection
America has been facing
the problem that not enough of its residents are involved in the important
issues of the country today. This country was founded on the principal that is
it to be run by the people and for the people, but when the people do not care
to take action and make any improvements, the system falls apart. I believe
voting to be one of the larger issues we are facing right now. We now live in
an era that makes us think that everything needs to be fast. From fast foods, to
loading a webpage, to even having a car wash, we want it done now. However when
it comes to voting, research needs to be done. This can be a time consuming
task as it requires taking a look at all the different candidates and their
views for dozens of different positons. The quickest and most favorable form of
obtaining this information is from the news. However, the news is often coated
in scandals and runs primarily on the premise of keeping the viewers’ attention
instead of educating them. While I believe America to be a great country, if
its citizens were to come together in a more organized fashion the country
could be even further improved upon. I included some examples of well-known
people who have made a change in overall community of the nation, as well as small,
rural communities. This shows that anyone can make a difference. It doesn’t
matter your education or background; if you have a belief you can let your
voice be heard and make a difference in your community. In writing this paper I
realized how important a community really is to us as a society. When we come
together to help each other we all benefit and gain friendships and knowledge. Community
is at its heart a wonderful thing and needs to be recognized more by the
people. Not everyone will contribute to their respective communities, but when
even a one more person joins in to contribute, it can have a great effect on
the overall society. I believe that when people come together for a common
good, not only can a task get done, but it can change the way other people think
and pave the way for a better future.
